LinkedIn for Businesses
LinkedIn is majorly used by individuals as a platform to expand their professional network, find suitable recruiters, and even to just keep themselves up to date with what is happening in their industry and people associated with it. LinkedIn, however, is also a great platform for companies and businesses to share relevant content about themselves and also to keep a tab on what is happening with similar or competitor businesses.
The LinkedIn page of any business is the first image that they give out to people who could even be potential investors of talented job hunters. If you fail to make the most out of your LinkedIn page, you lose the chance to tap into the possibility of connecting with such people. Apart from your highlighting your credentials, goals, and informational content, it is also very important to be on point with the visuals on your profile. LinkedIn requires not only pictures in different dimensions for different purposes, but also, different dimensions for personal profiles and for business or company pages.
Personal profile & background photo
On LinkedIn, it is necessary for individuals to only upload a professional headshot as their display pictures, and, by no means be tempted to upload a fancy vacation picture that rather belongs to Instagram. Being a strictly professional platform, LinkedIn may even remove your picture if it does not meet its laid out guidelines and conditions.
As for a profile photo, it is recommended to use a square photo with a pixel size ranging from 400 x 400 pixels and 20,000 x 20,000 pixels, with a maximum file size of 8 MB. The background photo, the picture that acts as your LinkedIn cover image, is recommended to be 1584 pixels wide by 396 pixels tall.
LinkedIn Logo and Cover Image for Business Accounts
If you ever look closely, you will notice that company and brand pages on LinkedIn look very different as compared to the personal accounts and profiles. You need to make sure as a business account that your company’s logo is used as your profile picture. This way, individuals and businesses can recognize your profile just by looking at the brand logo.
The logo image on a business profile looks the best when positioned at 300 x 300 pixels. A compelling cover page could be one of your products, an image with product launch information, or maybe even a team picture (professional albeit), from perhaps a social event that you may have undertaken as an organization. The recommended size for a company page cover image is 1536 pixels wide by 768 pixels tall.
Overview and Life Tab Images
LinkedIn’s interface takes visitors on your page from the Overview Tab to the Life tab. The “Overview Tab” encompasses the “About Us” information, i.e., information about your brand or company in this case. An image at 360 x 120 pixels is recommended for use as your picture for the Overview tab.
The Life Tab, on the other hand, encompasses information about your company as a whole, i.e. information such as your company values, company culture, company leaders, and even, perhaps, the activities or social ventures of your brand. The Life Tab should be where you place the shining, outlasting image. The recommended size for the image that goes up on this tab is 1128 pixels wide by 376 pixels tall.
